The letter ‘R’ is rich in essence. The golden verse of the Bible (John 3:16) speaks about God’s love and intention. Ponder on this word:
R – reconcile and rescue
E – everyone is encouraged
D – divine providence, our Deliverer
E – everlasting and
E – eternity
M – mankind maker
E – evil
D – destroyed
We are rescued and reconciled and encouraged to have divine fellowship that is everlasting, going into eternity with our Maker when evil is ultimately destroyed.
What a hope! Don’t we all need to hear that message in these turbulent times?
There is a very famous, old hymn that offers us hope in this seemingly hopeless world. It is called, ‘Blessed Assurance’.
The hymn writer herself is a marvel of God, blinded at 6 weeks of age, Fanny Crosby went on to write over 8000 hymns, all through the power of the Holy Spirit. What a difference God makes in our lives!
I listened to the book review of the famous ‘1984’ by George Orwell recently. It’s a case of doom and gloom where there is no escape under the constant surveillance of Big Brother. What a pitiful state to live in the present where there is no hope for the future!
The greatest and most widely read book ever written proclaims another story. There is hope… and that hope never disappoints. Here is one such scripture in it:Romans 5:5 NIV “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
Those who put their trust in God are redeemed through the blood that Jesus shed to reconcile man to God. We are not condemned but redeemed and restored. Colossians 1:13-14 NIV says, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
