When you examine the details of the Easter event, what unfolds is a Hope Letter.
Perhaps you might be thinking… how?
Irrespective of your religious inclination and level of faith, each human being is created with an inbuilt God factor.
If that cynicism streak lifts its haughty head within your spirit, just remind it of what people all over the world are saying with the recent happening in the conflict zones in the Middle East! Yes, we have to admit that the first words spewing out in shock, terror and disbelief is… “Oh my God!”
Only when we face full-on calamity, does the frailness of our humanity surface. We were born for great things and we were equally gifted for great things. As humans, man sits at the pinnacle of all creation. Yet, what we see all around us tells a pitiful story of man’s existence, greed, exploitation and unhappiness.
We know the Easter story centres around Jesus Christ. He said repeatedly, “I have come that you might have peace.”
Read these verses: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV
““I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”” John 16:33 NIV
Furthermore, we have that great hope promise from Jesus Christ Himself. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;” John 11:25 NIV
We do not have to live in fear and uncertainty about our existence. Hope resounds in Jesus” words for all of us who come to Him. Read this verse of assurance: ““Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me.” John 14:1 NIV
Perhaps this sounds like a story-tale to the cynic in you… but when you are looking down the barrel of a gun, all pretence and loftiness evaporates and truth manifests like a freshly cleaned pair of spectacles. Reality check emerges.
Read on: “And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3 NIV
We have a promise that is water-tight. Read on: “And this is what he promised us—eternal life.” 1 John 2:25 NIV
Easter reminds us yet again that God has sent us a Hope Letter. Have you opened it and become its beneficiary? ◊
