Waiting for a miracle!
There were four really good friends who were waiting for a miracle for their mate. What they had instead were obstacles all along the way. But this did not deter them, they were determined their friend desperately needed a miracle and they would do all they could to see that he got it.
That’s remarkable courage and stickability against all odds! Wouldn’t you like to have friends like that? Putting it a different way, would you go the extra mile for your friends, no matter the cost?
Coming back to the story; these four guys worked out a good plan, which could get them in hot water as it was a radical plan.
Read for yourselves what they did in Luke 5:17-26. You see, their faith was rewarded and their friend was healed. In fact, he sprung up, then picked up his mat that his friends had carried him in and joyfully marched out of the house, much to the bewilderment and wonder of all those around him.
Here is a current day anecdotal:
This woman who was once a member of a church, went alone to a meeting in a coastal, country town. Sadly, she was no longer going to a church, but had joined what they call a hub, which consists of members who also used to go to church. She was in her 40 ‘s and suffered severe pain in her right leg and hip. She was told that she needed a hip replacement but was too young, so she had to wait and live on strong pain medication.
At this meeting, when she came forward for prayer, she could not bend as it caused her excruciating pain. The visiting speaker laid hands on her head and prayed that God would release healing upon her. Well, before she knew it, she fell under the power of God. She lay there for 2-3 minutes. Then she sprang to her feet and started shouting out, “There’s no pain, no pain, no pain!” She went running down the hall, shouting, “No pain, no pain!” That’s all she could say as God had healed her hip.
Ecstatic, she went home and told her husband, who knew his wife was suffering for so long. But when he saw the change in her, he knew it was a miracle!
He was once attending church but quit. On seeing the miracle his wife had just experienced, he recommitted his life back to God. He couldn’t believe what he saw. God had performed a miracle in his wife’s body. An added bonus for him, besides finding his way back to God, was no more doing all the house work himself. That certainly is great news multiplied so many times over. Praise God who is still in the miracle-working business! ◊
